Please help us offer them better conditions and a better life until adoption!
The current situation:
A piece of land, that we do not own, where we built directly on the ground about 30 completely open door, pens. We have 125 dog houses (some in good shape, others that need repair) and host approximately 155 dogs (so not all of them have their own dog house). The conditions are far from being the ones we would like to offer to the dogs.
Except the fact that they are safe from the dangers of the streets, they have to endure pretty harsh conditions. The shelter has no roof or walls, so the dogs are completely exposed to all types of weather conditions, strong sun during summer, heavy rain or snow during the cold seasons, too low or too high temperatures.
These poor souls have never seen a bed in their life. You can also help by adopting them
Because we do not own the land we cannot invest more we are doing (pens, dog houses, and any type of materials or constructions that can easily be disassembled and transferred).
(Unfortunately this is how the shelter looks after a few days of heavy rain...)
Aprox. monthly expenses:
- expenses with feeding the dogs daily and cleaning the pens: 250 euro / $325;
- food for the dogs: 2 400 euro / $3 200;
- constant expenses for repairing and maintaining the pens and the dog houses in good shape, and/or build new ones;
- medical expenses for all dogs: vaccination, deworming, spaying and neutering, special medical care for dogs we find injured or sick and take them into our care. We do not own a vet clinic, so we have to take the dogs to private vet clinics.
Our long term goal:
Buy a piece of land and start building a real shelter with proper conditions for both dogs and cats. Have proper indoor and outdoor pens, and dog houses for each dog. Have a special enclosure for the cat shelter. Have special space for socializing and playing with the animals. Have our own vet clinic that can provide minimum veterinary assistance to the animals in need from the shelter.
Until them we are trying to do our best to offer these animals a better life until being adopted. Any help is appreciated. This is why we did not set a money goal for this ChiIn.
